Description: Lightly coated pieces of chicken with a hint of citrus served with a tangy tomato-based sauce.
Ingredients
1 lb. chicken breast, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoons minced garlic
4 green onions, sliced
1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (chili garlic sauce)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup half & half
2 1/2 cup flour
peel from 1/4 orange, julienne into 1/8" strips
Directions
1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add minced garlic and green onoins and let cook for about 1 minute.
2. Add tomato sauce, water, sugar, Sriracha and soy sauce. Bring to a boil and then simmer for about 5 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.
3. Heat a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat, add 1/2 cup of vegetable oil. Let the oil heat to 375 degrees F.
4. Combine beaten egg with half & half in a medium bowl. Pour flower into another bowl. Coat the chicken pieces by dropping them into the flour a few at a time, then into the egg mixture and then back into the flour again. Place the coated chicken on a plate until you have coated all of the chicken.
5. Cook the chicken in small batches in the oil until lightly golden brown on all sides. Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate lined with paper towels. Repeat until all the chicken is cooked.
6. Discard the oil from the wok and then place the wok back on the burner over medium heat. Add the orange peel and cook for a minute to allow the oils to be released. Then add the sauce and chicken and cook briefly until heated through.
7. Serve with white or brown rice.

3. Place on medium heat and stir until entire mixture is boiling
4. Turn temperature down to low until mixture is on a continuous slow simmer
5. Cook sauce for additional 35-45 minutes and remove from heat
6. Place in bowl or brush onto your food and enjoy!

Recipes From Restaurants Can Be Made at Home

Recipes from restaurants are not as hard as you think. Whether being in an unsteady economy or just wanting to get that restaurant taste without the restaurant price tag, you can make it at home. Everybody wants to treat themselves by going out to their favorite restaurant, so now why not have fun making it yourself.
When it comes to famous restaurant recipes it comes down to two things, Ingredients and Cooking Method/Time.
I know when I first started out cooking it was because I wanted something nobody else wanted to cook or try. I would mix and match ingredients from different recipes and pretty soon started writing them down to the exact quantities of each ingredient. Before I got to that point of experimentation though, I quickly realized that the recipe is a step by step guide. Really just read it through once and follow it was all that was required. All recipes from restaurants started out this way.
The ingredients are where everything changes. The reality is that not all ingredients are created equal. The difference in taste for the same meal can come from only changing one brand of one item. Having said that doesn't mean that it's going to be hard. It is more a trial and error method and noticing that it does change the taste. The greatest breakthrough is when you get the first recipe from restaurant right which is the first of many copycats recipes you'll make. You'll notice that similar secret restaurants recipes will be more alike with ingredients.
Once you get the taste right it still could not be as the real dish. What has a lot to do with it is the time we allow. I would have to say that it's not really that the meals are under cooked, but overcooked. And the two items mostly overcooked are meats and pasta. The meats get dried out and the pasta becomes too soft. If you cook the meat on the grill you need to marinate the meat at least a half an hour before cooking, turn the heat lower, flip it at regular intervals and baste it at least half way through the cooking time. This increases cooking time but keeps the moisture in. For pasta, stir often and turn off the heat a minute before the set time. Let sit for the minute, Drain and rinse with hot water.
All recipes from restaurants can be made with the right ingredients and cooking method/time. You too can enjoy them sooner than you think. Start with what you made before and change it up until you get it right.

Copycat Recipes - Make Something Special

Copycat restaurant recipes, often called top secret recipes, are revolutionizing home cooking everywhere. The recent influx of recipes has really made cooking more fun for me. I enjoy cooking most of the time, but cooking things that I've had in restaurants really enthuses me. It is just plain fun when your food turns out as good or better than your favorite restaurant.
Copycat restaurant recipes give you a lot of options when it comes to cooking dinner. My wife and I like to go to Chili's quite frequently, but lately they've discontinued several of the things we like to cook. The solution...make them ourselves. That's right. There are a lot of Chili's recipes in most of the copycat cookbooks. It is really easy as long as you have the recipe.
We really liked Chili's Lettuce Wraps and the Boneless Shanghai Wings, but they stopped offering them. We also really like the Mongolian Beef from PF Chang's but we don't have a PF Chang's where we live. Those recipes are also available.
We like to make alfredo from Olive Garden, chicken marsala from Macaroni Grill, as well as many of our other favorite dishes from other places. The alfredo is really easy. In fact, it's one of the easiest things you can make.
Copycat restaurant recipes let you fix meals that only cost a fraction of the price of the restaurant dishes. If you're trying to cut down expenses, cooking your own restaurant dishes will save you a lot of money. A meal of pasta alfredo will only cost three to four dollars for a family of four as opposed to thirty dollars or more at a restaurant.
Copycat recipes actually do taste as good as the restaurant dishes. You will be pleasantly surprised with the results.

How an Online Recipe Book Saved My Kitchen

For awhile now, my wife has been asking me to learn how to cook. I've been hesitant to do so because my wife is a wonderful cook and I know as much about cooking as Christopher Lowell does about the NFL. So in my mind I'd never had the need or desire to become the next Bobby Flay.
But after some loving nagginng, errr encouragement from my wife, and almost burning down my kitchen trying to boil a pot of water, I decided it was time to learn how to do this cooking thing.
But if I was going to do this, I wanted to find MY kind of recipe book online. The online recipe book I was after had to meet the following 3 important criteria:
1. The recipe book had to be easy to follow. A must, since I've proven I have the culinary I.Q. equivalent to sweet Corky on that bad '90's sitcom.
2. The recipe book had to be affordable. I wanted to invest in a good recipe book, because it would make me more committed. If I just relied on free online recipes, I would have no skin in the game. Having said that, I didn't want to pay too much either. Plus, a lot of the free recipes online were either garbage or didn't have a collection of easy-to-make meals that I liked.
3. The recipe book had to have a variety of dishes. I knew if I got an online recipe book with just one type of cuisine, I would get bored and, or frustrated.
After about of week of researching different recipe books online, I found the crown jewel, the mother of all online recipe books. It's called "America's Most Wanted Recipes". It was a weird feeling, because the only time I get excited about food is when there's a hot plate of something I love sitting in front of me. But as I read about this online recipe book, I was genuinely excited about the cool dishes I could start making.
It hit on all MY criteria for a good recipe book. Best of all, and what really caught my attention was that it full of spectacular recipes from my favorite restaurants like PF Chang's, Chili's, Red Lobster, The Cheese Cake Factory and many more.
America's Most Wanted Recipes would be the recipe book that would finally take me from a culinary dud to a gourmet stud :). I was a little cautious at first, because I saw a lot of other recipe books both free and for sale that claimed to have copy cat restaurant recipes.
